I am currently a lecturer in Literary Arts & Studies at the Rhode Island School of Design.
In my research, I’m interested in studying how Enlightenment scientific and medical frameworks shape our conceptions of the human. As an Americanist, I’m particularly keen on understanding how these frameworks traveled to the Americas and were transformed within new institutional sites like slavery, the military, and humanitarianism.
Beyond the university, I am a state-licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Together with my partner and our volunteers, we rescue, rehabilitate, and release 1000+ animals annually at our clinic, Congress of the Birds (support our efforts here).
