I am a Visiting Assistant Professor of American Studies at Brandeis.

In my research, I’m interested in studying how Enlightenment scientific and medical frameworks shape our conceptions of the human. As an Americanist, I’m particularly keen on understanding how these frameworks traveled to the Americas and were transformed within new institutional sites like slavery, the military, and humanitarianism.

Beyond the university, I am a licensed wild animal rehabilitator and, together with my partner, admit annually 400-500 animals into our clinic, Congress of the Birds, during the summer months.
